Restaurant

Brief: To design a restaurant that reflects and responded to my childhood memories, capturing my unique cultural and social heritage [ half English, half Turkish ].
Proposal: ‘Incir ve Limon’ is a small traditional Turkish restaurant which serves a variety of Turkish meze, cakes, Raki and thick Turkish coffee.
The use of classical materials; stone walls, patterned tiles and rugs, creates an authentic atmosphere. I have also introduced a handmade and painted Efes bottle
cap wall texture and integrated my own fabric designs for the soft furnishings.
These reference my childhood domestic memories and environments from growing up in a small village in the south-west corner of Turkey.
Together these make the space unique – provoking a specific sense of meaning and memory which reflects my multicultural background.
